Dofamin — organizmda tirozin aminokislotasidan sintezlanadigan muhim neyromediator. U asab impulslarini uzatishda, harakatlarni boshqarishda, motivatsiya va emotsional holatni tartibga solishda ishtirok etadi. Dofamin, shuningdek, o‘rganish jarayoni va mukofot tizimi faoliyatida muhim ahamiyatga ega. Uning yetishmovchiligi Parkinson kasalligi va depressiyaga, ortiqcha bo‘lishi esa psixik buzilishlarga olib kelishi mumkin.
