Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill in language acquisition and academic success, yet it remains a challenge for many learners. Traditional approaches often rely on passive reading and rote question-answer formats, which may not sufficiently engage students or promote deep understanding. This article explores innovative techniques for teaching reading comprehension in the English language classroom. Emphasizing strategies such as reciprocal teaching, literature circles, digital tools, graphic organizers, and metacognitive instruction, it presents methods that enhance engagement, critical thinking, and learner autonomy. The integration of these approaches can transform reading lessons from mechanical decoding exercises into dynamic experiences that foster analytical and reflective thinking.
