PROBLEMS OF WRITING IDIOMS AND PHRASEOLOGICAL EXPRESSIONS

This article discusses the main challenges in translating English idioms and phraseological expressions. Cultural connotations, contextual equivalence, transators competence and semantic transfer are examined. The study also provides practical examples of different translation , adaptation and calquing.
