Ushbu maqola insonning hid bilish (olfaktor) tizimining biologik va neyrofiziologik asoslarini, shuningdek uning ijtimoiy-psixologik jihatlari — xotira, his-tuyg'u va xulq-atvorga ta'sirini qamrab oladi. Mavjud hidlar klassifikatsiyasi tizimlari — Amoore, Henning va zamonaviy raqamli tasniflar — tahlil qilinadi. Hidlarni raqamli modellashtirish sohasidagi asosiy muammolar: yuqori o'lchamli kimyoviy fazoning murakkabligi, pertseptual subyektivlik, o'lchovlar standartsizligi va makon-vaqt dinamikasi atroflicha ko'rib chiqiladi. Shu bilan birga sun'iy intellekt va elektron burun texnologiyalarining hozirgi holati baholanadi.
