ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FOR MODERN EDUCATION

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative force in contemporary education, particularly in English Language Teaching (ELT). This review article examines the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating AI into language education. AI-powered tools, including chatbots, adaptive learning platforms, automated writing evaluation systems, and speech recognition technologies, have enhanced personalized learning, learner autonomy, and instructional efficiency. The article reviews current literature on AI-assisted language learning and discusses its pedagogical implications. While AI offers significant benefits such as immediate feedback and individualized instruction, concerns regarding ethics, data privacy, accessibility, and overreliance on technology remain important considerations. The study concludes that AI should complement, rather than replace, human educators and that balanced implementation can significantly improve language learning outcomes.
