NEGATION AND ASPECTS OF ITS COMPARATIVE-TYPOLOGICAL STUDY IN ENGLISH, RUSSIAN, AND UZBEK LANGUAGES
Keywords:
Comparative grammar, English language, Uzbek language, negation category, functional semanticsAbstract
Negation, as a linguistic phenomenon, plays a crucial role in expressing the absence, denial, or contradiction of a statement, and its study provides valuable insights into the syntax, morphology, and semantics of different languages. A comparative-typological approach to negation across languages allows linguists to examine how different languages convey negation and explore the commonalities and differences between them. In this context, we focus on the study of negation in English, Russian, and Uzbek, three languages from different language families, to better understand their respective structures and mechanisms for expressing negation.
