Abstract

The role of smart streetlights in smart cities is pivotal in enhancing urban infrastructure, energy efficiency, and public safety. These intelligent lighting systems are equipped with sensors, actuators, and communication networks, enabling them to adapt to real-time conditions such as traffic flow, weather, and environmental factors. Smart streetlights contribute significantly to reducing energy consumption, lowering maintenance costs, and improving the overall sustainability of urban environments. Furthermore, they form the backbone of smart city initiatives by facilitating the integration of various IoT (Internet of Things) devices, thus creating a more connected and efficient urban ecosystem. This paper discusses the importance and potential benefits of smart streetlights in smart cities, focusing on their contribution to energy-saving strategies, security, and urban development.
