This article examines the formation, historical origins, and sources of English and Uzbek legal discourse. It explores the emergence of legal language, the development of legal thinking, and the linguistic norms of legal documents from a historical perspective. The study identifies the main sources of English legal discourse such as Roman law, Norman conquest documents, and the foundations of the Common Law system. The Uzbek legal discourse is analyzed through Islamic law (fiqh), ancient Turkic legal codes, the “Qonunlar majmuasi” (Code of Laws), and the language of legislation developed after independence. The paper reveals the linguistic and legal similarities and differences between the two systems. The findings have practical significance for legal translation, standardization of legal language, and intercultural communication.
