THE ROLE OF THE ORAL MICROBIOME IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF DENTAL CARIES AND PERIODONTAL DISEASES

The oral microbiome represents a complex community of microorganisms that plays a crucial role in maintaining oral health. Under normal conditions, these microorganisms exist in a balanced state and contribute to the protection of oral tissues. However, disruptions in microbial balance may lead to the development of various oral diseases. This article examines the role of the oral microbiome in the pathogenesis of dental caries and periodontal diseases. Particular attention is given to microbial dysbiosis, changes in microbial diversity, and their impact on oral health. The article also discusses recent advances in microbiome research and highlights the importance of understanding microbial interactions for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of common dental diseases.
