THE LEXICOGRAPHIC ROLE OF MUSIC DICTIONARIES IN EDUCATION

This article explores the role of music dictionaries in bridging cultural gaps in music education through the lens of lexicography. By comparing Ilyos Akbarov's Music Dictionary, The Oxford Companion to Music, and The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the study examines how different approaches to defining musical terminology reflect diverse cultural, historical, and educational priorities. Utilizing comparative methodology, content analysis, and contextual analysis, the article highlights the pedagogical and scientific importance of accurate term interpretation across languages and musical traditions. The findings demonstrate how lexicographic resources shape the understanding of music both locally and globally, emphasizing their value in fostering cross-cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange in music education.
