THE EFFECT OF ACETYLCHOLINE ON MEMORY.
Abstract
This article highlights the role of acetylcholine, one of the main neurotransmitters of the central nervous system, in memory formation. It analyzes the effects of acetylcholine on important brain structures such as the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, and the neurobiological mechanisms mediated by muscarinic and nicotinic receptors. The article also examines memory impairments resulting from acetylcholine deficiency, particularly in the context of Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, it provides information on drugs affecting acetylcholine and their effectiveness in restoring cognitive functions. Based on research findings, the article emphasizes the significance of acetylcholine in memory processes and outlines promising directions for future scientific studies.
